The Power of the Cross: Embracing the Supernatural Benefits of Faith

In a world increasingly skeptical of the supernatural, many faith leaders and individuals alike find themselves reasoning away the profound benefits of the cross. This phenomenon often stems from personal experiences that clash with the teachings of Scripture, leading to a dilution of Biblical truth. However, to appropriate the covenant blessings promised to us, it is essential to understand our identity in Christ and to stand firmly in faith, grounded in the Word of God.

The cross is not merely a symbol of suffering; it is the very foundation of our faith and the source of our supernatural empowerment. In 1 Peter 2:24, we are reminded, “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds, you have been healed.” This verse encapsulates the essence of what Christ accomplished for us—healing, deliverance, and freedom. Yet, many choose to overlook this truth, often due to their own experiences or the teachings they have received that dilute the potency of God’s Word.

Great Spiritual Fathers, such as A.W. Tozer, have emphasized the importance of faith in experiencing the fullness of God’s promises. Tozer once said, “Faith is the gaze of the soul upon a saving God.” This gaze requires us to look beyond our circumstances and to trust in the unchanging nature of God’s Word. When we allow our experiences to dictate our understanding of Scripture, we risk missing out on the miraculous work that God is eager to perform in our lives.

The Bible is replete with examples of God’s supernatural intervention. In Acts 3:6, Peter boldly declares, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” This declaration was not based on Peter’s personal experience but on the authority of Christ and the truth of God’s Word. Millions today are experiencing similar miracles—healing, deliverance, and freedom—when they stand firm in faith and proclaim the promises of God.

To counter the false teachings that undermine the supernatural benefits of the cross, we must return to the Scriptures and remind ourselves of our identity in Christ. Galatians 2:20 states, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Understanding that we are new creations in Christ empowers us to claim the blessings of the covenant.

Moreover, we must encourage one another to embrace the truth of God’s Word. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.” By fostering a community that values the supernatural and stands on the promises of Scripture, we can help dispel the doubts that arise from unexplained personal experiences and societal skepticism. We must humble ourselves when God responds differently to our prayers than what we expected. His plan always has a higher purpose and outcome than what we can know at the moment. What God has promised in His Word to do. He will do! We walk by faith not by sight.

In conclusion, the supernatural benefits of the cross are not just theological concepts; they are realities that can transform lives. As we stand firm in our faith, rooted in the Word of God, we can experience the healing, deliverance, and freedom that Christ offers. Let us not allow our experiences or diluted teachings to cloud our understanding of God’s promises. Instead, let us boldly proclaim the truth of Scripture and encourage others to do the same, for in Christ, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). The power of the cross is alive and active, ready to bring about miraculous change in the lives of those who believe.
